WFC announces “Aporkalypse” holiday for 2023

The World Food Championship (WFC) announced this week that it is partnering with The Experience Resorts to develop a culinary and barbecue-themed vacation for 2023 in the Caribbean called “Aporkalypse Island.”

Designed for foodies and avid BBQ fans alike, Aporkalypse Island will feature daily music, BBQ classes, demos, parties, custom kitchens and experiences with award-winning celebrity chefs and pit masters.

“Nothing goes better with sun and fun than great food and barbecue created by renowned chefs and legendary pitmasters,” said Mike McCloud, WFC President / CEO. “This is a one-of-a-kind vacation plan for foodies who love beautiful resorts, interactive cuisine, custom parties large and small, as well as amazing chef-curated dinners.”

Over the course of seven days, attendees will enjoy an all-inclusive vacation on a pink sand beach in the Dominican Republic, with access to special cooking events ranging from hands-on rapid-fire challenges to interactive celebrity showdowns. For foodies who want to eat rather than compete, a series of Certified Assessment classes will be offered to provide a fair, fun, and objective assessment along the way.

“Imagine learning every day, then trying and maybe even judging succulent pork dishes and techniques from around the world,” said McCloud. “That is the essence of Aporkalypse, while the entire experience is guided or curated by renowned chefs and respected strip masters.”

The vacation is one of many new themed getaways offered by The Experience Resorts, which has developed an immersive-style resort customized for music and food-based programming.

Reservations for Aporkalypse Island will open in February 2022, one year prior to the resort’s official holiday week. For more information on vacation details and packages, join the early registration list by emailing
